Retreats
Each semester GCF organizes a retreat for all the graduate students that are able to attend. They are great opportunity to get away from the busyness of school and work and reconnect with God, His creation, and each other. Each retreat has featured a different speaker to touch on topics specifically relating to Christian graduate students. Small group discussions and personal reflection time offer a chance to delve deeper into the topic. Last, but certainly not least, retreats are full of tons of fun activities! Past retreats have included: broomball, Halloween costume contest, disc golf, card games, tubing, hiking, puzzles, and lots of other fun activities at all hours of the day and night. The retreats have plenty of free time purpsoely built in so that the weekend is a chance to recharge – whatever that looks like for you.

Prayer
Throughout the semester we get together to pray for each other, our ministry, and the campus. There is a weekly prayer time on Mondays at 8am in ATLAS 202. We also gather for a “prayer practicum” in which we will be trying different ways of praying. This meeting is every other Thursday (opposite weeks of Deep Thoughts) at noon in UMC 381. Come join us for prayer!
Contact Matt Duchek if you have any questions about prayer.
Deep Thoughts
Deep Thoughts meets every other Thursday at 8pm at Backcountry Pizza and Tap House to discuss theology. This year, we are looking at some of the more controversial theological questions in hopes of better understanding who God is and how we should relate to Him. We would love for you to join us!
Feel free to contact Jonathan Spelman if you would like to know more about Deep Thoughts.
Service
GCF strives to be an outwardly-focused ministry. We look for ways in which to give hands and feet to the faith and community that we actively develop each week in small groups. This year we will be serving the communities around us in a variety of ways – large and small.
Please contact Jay Swamidass if you have any questions about service opportunities.
Married-Couples Night
GCF is a diverse group made up of lots of students at different stages in their lives. We have a good number of married couples that are part of our group, and once in a while throughout the year they will get together for some fun, casual time. It’s a chance to be with other married couples and maybe chat about being married in grad school.

Girls’ Night/Guys’ Night
Girls’ Nights and Guys’ Nights have involved anything from movies to poker to kickball to tea. It’s a chance to eat together, have a great time, and hang out with friends – whether they be old friends or new ones. It’s a relaxed event that is great to bring friends to!
Other Activities

- Hikes
- Potlucks
- Pick-up Soccer
- Camping Trips
- Game Nights
- Knitting Parties

- Anything else you can think of!
This is just a sample of some of the events and activities throughout the semester. The GCF email list is a great way to stay informed about what is going on each week. Some of the events are organized by GCF, while others are organized by other students. With such a diverse group of very active graduate students, it is usually pretty easy to find something going on every week. We’d love to hear your new ideas!
